Don’t Act Like I Never Told Ya
Alright, so I’m watching the AMAs, right at the part when Hova receives his award (hip-hop). Now instead of listening to his acceptance speech, for some reason I couldn’t help but pay MORE attention to this well-placed golden safety pin emerging through his tux lapel. PUNCTILIO!!!! Now, I’m gonna take partial credit in this realm, because over a year ago, we said that THE UNDERSTATEMENTS you add to an outfit (i.e. pocket squares, tie bars, and now…lapel pins) can take the look to another level. Peep how Jay-Z demonstrates mastery of the understatement, a la…The Lapel Pin. Oh yea….Don’t act like we never told ya.

Shouts to our friends over at Married to the Mob for blessing us with some of the looks for the Holiday collection!! Ladies, these leggings will be a nice addition to any cold season outfit. I’m just saying…you gotta step outside blacks and grays — and here’s the way to do it.

[4]u|Tø Know: Jil Sander x Uniqlo 2.0

With the launch of the +J collection at Uniqlo a little over a month ago, the fashion gears are already in motion for a spring 2010 collection. You know how it goes…sales are good, so lets do it again until sales are not so good. According to Catwalk Queen Ms. Sanders is in New York right now shooting the campaign for the spring collection. I got a few good things from this collab so I’ll be looking forward to the next one. I only hope that there are more men’s pieces the next go-round.
[4]u|Tø Know: PUMP 20.09
The Reebok PUMP, one of the most iconic sneakers in history, is celebrating its 20th Anniversary. But instead of launching a commemorative sneaker (I would’ve settled for a Dominique Wilkins or Dee Brown edition) or having the traditional sneaker-shaped birthday cake cut in a million slices, the creative minds at Reebok decided to celebrate in a different way. Reebok opened the invitation to collaborate with sneaker boutiques and retailers WORLDWIDE (i.e. Colette, BODEGA, HUF, UNDFTD, Patta, Sneakersnstuff from Stockholm) on custom Reebok PUMP sneakers. Across the globe, some of the most innovative concepts have been applied to the Reebok PUMP, including new colorways, deconstructed materials, patterns, and even added elements such as key chains, shirts, you name it! Each boutique/retailer is launching their limited edition PUMP 20 collection on….you guessed it, November 20th, 2009! Keep your eyes open, because a retailer near you JUST MIGHT be dropping the illest sneaker in this entire project!
Here’s a look at some of the collabs:
u|T|ø endorses…Penfield

If you haven’t got the memo by now….we’re knocking on Winter’s door. Before she opens up that bad boy up, it’s essential to have the proper gear on deck. Now, we’ve been putting people onto all kinds of outerwear titans, but the Massachusetts-based newjacks, Penfield, may be edging out the competition. Their latest collection of 80/20 premium down-filled vests and jackets not only showcases their attention to detail (i.e. pocket placement, material usage, lines and contours) but their full understanding that good quality should be AFFORDABLE. That my friends is a Win-Win.
Check out some of the classic styles available this season from Penfield.

Class|in|Session: F.I.T. Parents Day Fashion Show
I got a chance to sit in on the FIT fashion show on Parents Day. The collection consisted of womens casual, evening, wedding, and swim wear from a number of FIT students. We were not supposed to video so I had to sit far away and capture some footage. All I had was my digi cam with me so please don’t judge and excuse the shakiness lol. This was caught on the fly with whatever resources were available.

This past Thursday (Oct. 29) Levi’s and acclaimed artist/designer Shepard Fairey launched their collaborative limited edition collection. The Obey x Levi’s collection apparently boasts two pairs of denim (511 & 514 cut), two denim jackets (one of which is below), and a mess load of tops (a flannel, and some tees). And get this…price-point: $34.50 – $148!
Here are some details from the release:
SAN FRANCISCO (October 19, 2009) – This October, the Levi’s® brand – the name responsible for the invention of the blue jean – continues its ever-evolving relationship with acclaimed street artist Shepard Fairey by unveiling Obey x Levi’s®, a collection of co-designed, street-inspired styles for men. Obey x Levi’s® is a celebration of the renegade spirit embraced by both pioneering partners and features denim silhouettes, distress details, and finishes inspired by Fairey’s personal collection of Levi’s® jeanswear and collaboratively developed by Levi’s® and Fairey.
The highly collectible Obey x Levi’s® capsule collection will be carried exclusively at select Levi’s® Store locations in New York City, San Francisco, Chicago and Santa Monica and at http://www.levi.com. It will be available beginning October 29 and will range in price from $34.50 to $148. To commemorate the launch of the collection, on October 29 Fairey will unveil a series of four new poster designs at a live art installation outside The Levi’s® Store in New York City’s Times Square. Once Fairey completes the installation, he will meet-and-greet event participants while autographing free museum-quality reproductions of his new posters.
