Get Familiar: Simply…Suede
SUEDE is apparently becoming hot this season with sneaker designers. It’s an interesting choice because it has strong weaknesses like the ability to become dirty and absorb liquids quickly, but it’s also soft probably making for a comfortable wear. Not to mention it just looks more luxurious. Here are some S/S 2010 offerings…

[4]u|Tø Know: Richard Chai [4] PRO-Keds

Richard Chai relatively new to the menswear fashion scene has already made some major moves since the release of his own line in 2004; he has already completed capsule collections for Topman and Target. His newest collaboration, supposedly set to drop this January is between he and Keds. These understated yet eye-catching hi-tops feature a single zipper fastener running vertically up the front to secure the shoes, reminiscent of the new Rick Owens trainer redux. There are still holes for laces if you want to lace them up, but I ask you this question…..why would you?
Check out his Spring 2010 collection here.
Get Familiar: Cole Haand of Winter
Cole Haan has resurrected the name of its’s long lost co-founder with the COLE ROOD & HAAN line of “roaring-twenties” inspired brogues, wingtips and dress boots and some cool complementary bags.

Fashion’s Night Ø|u|T: MOMO x Y-3
New York based artist MOMO has successfully collaborated with the Adidas brand Y-3 to create a collection of “fli-tops” with artistically architectural colorways. This capsule collection is a redux of the Y-3 Hayworth Mid II but it boasts designs similar to his work in the International Outdoor Urban Art Exhibition. Tentatively, these shoes will be part of a limited run of 350 pairs worldwide with a pricetag of about $320. They will debut in the US at Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out.

Don’t Act Like I Never Told Ya
If you’ve been following our twitter feeds (gr8vision, GunnerSixx, bleyzmanuel) you will have already known that we took notice of the recent “Construction Worker” trend in footwear (a brother confesses, Red Wing Inspired boots are my sh*t). If that wasn’t enough, we even posted the re-release of Polo Boots, back in July. Now everywhere you look, celebs have been rocking steel toes — Timbalands and Doc Martens to be exact. So again…don’t act like we never told ya!

Texas Iconic Boot Returns

Every region across the nation has their ICONIC shoe. Northeast — yall own Timbs (Wheat seems to be the standard). West — Vans & Chucks, (depending on if you Go Dumb or Jerk). And then there’s….the 3rd Coast — specifically TEXAS. They are responsible for the POLO BOOT, period. For those who are 3rd ward born and raised, but not in Texas anymore (i.e. The Urbane Epicurean), the re-release is scheduled for today, 7/16 [at David Z. - 556 Broadway (between Prince and Spring st.) Get Familiar: Manga Wedges
These vixens are bad as hell! The white and black colorway is so clean. Not to mention they look like they are from an episode of Robotech. While I enjoy the classics I am partial to techy-inspired designs. You may not know of him yet, but look out for Liam Fahy, the designer of these “beau|Ties.”

RecessionPrøøf 220: The Rick Owens L[oo]k
The objective of our new category, RecessionProof 220, is to simply provide dependable suggestions of things/items that will contribute to your style, with out contributing to your debt. These items are virtually inelastic — they won’t fluctuate with the economy, they won’t depreciate in value over time, and they won’t need a billion-dollar bailout. “Why?” you ask….because Urban Graduates deserve it.
So here is the Rick Owens look at a WAAAY more affordable price.

Air Yeezy: Meet the [Under]studies

This post is dedicated to all those who DIDN’T get a pair of the ever-so-coveted Air Yeezys. With two colorways already released in limited quantities, eBay-ers have treated these sneakers with the same price inelasticity as diamonds — making it pretty difficult to obtain a pair without selling a kidney on the black market.
Today we’re gonna show you a few kicks that (1) ARE available (or will be available shortly), (2) ARE dope enough to draw the attention of others, and (3) WON’T leave your account overdrafted.
EXHIBIT A – The Ocean Runner by Greedy Genius
Likeness: Extended HiTop; Grey Colorway; like the LV sneakers by Kanye…but Hitop.
Where it Differs: Think Sperry x Supra x NIKE….not Kanye x NIKE x Warren Buffet. These are gonna be a heavy hitter upon release, mainly since this is the best looking Greedy Genius shoe to drop. Expect heads to turn, and wallets to say “Thank You”.

EXHIBIT B – RT1 by NIKE (White/Grey/Turquoise colorway) aka “The UnYeezys”.
Likeness: Extended HiTop; Bright contrasting interior; Safari Texture; Protruding tongue.
Where it Differs: Well….add a strap & an air bubble my friends, and PRESTO-Alacazam!! You have an Air Yeezy (but for about $135 LESS).

EXHIBIT C - Ex-O- Fit Hi SG Strap by Reebok
Likeness: Mid-Strap; Vibrant (attention-grabbing) colorways; mixture of materials.
Where it Differs: This sneaker is ALOT more OSTENTATIOUS than the Air Yeezys. It uses tone-on-tone, so more than likely…your sneakers will stand out from the rest of your ENTIRE outfit. Oh…did we mention you can get these for under $100?

YOU CAN’T SAY THAT WE DON’T LOOK OUT FOR YALL!
The smARTORIALIST: Sole Safari

Urban Takeøut knows that its been about hi-top sneakers and dress pants for a while now. It hasn’t been an extremely popular look, or pulled off very often, but thanks to recent Dior Homme shows, it may become more prevalent. So before that look blows up, we wanted to take it back to basics for a second…the man’s oxford shoe.

Don’t Act Like I Never Told Ya! [McQueen for TARGET]

I’ve been meaning to get around to this but I figured I’d just announce it on the day of…TODAY is the release of Alexander McQueen’s collection for Target stores! Some have mixed feelings about the collection because they have been spoiled by his runway collections, but I think that the clothes are very fitting for the setting they’re in. I think Alexander McQueen’s bad boy image has been excellently, yet subtlely translated into this women’s line for Target, even if it does resemble the younger McQueen. The collection will be available from today, March 4th to April 14th, 2009. So urban graduettes, get on it (if you feel).

Don’t Act Like I Never Told Ya! [*Air Yeezy Update*]

Yes that’s right, mark April 2nd on your calendars. The Air Yeezy drop is official. Peep some of the leaked pics here. Special big up to the boys over at Hypebeast for the Exclusive (Jey I see you!). They did an ill article about the detailed creation process and the actual construction of the sneaker. In the words of Mr. West himself, “IS THIS WHAT YOU BEEN WAITIN FORRRRR?!?!” — Well yes, Mr. West — It is.
