Don’t Act Like I Never Told Ya

leave a comment »

If you’ve been following our twitter feeds (gr8vision, GunnerSixx, bleyzmanuel) you will have already known that we took notice of the recent “Construction Worker” trend in footwear (a brother confesses, Red Wing Inspired boots are my sh*t). If that wasn’t enough, we even posted the re-release of Polo Boots, back in July. Now everywhere you look, celebs have been rocking  steel toes — Timbalands and Doc Martens to be exact. So again…don’t act like we never told ya!

RecessionPrøøf 220: The Margiela S/S ’08 L[oo]k

A personal favorite here at the Urban Takeøut studios is Maison Martin Margiela. I was really diggin’ the bandeau inspired looks of his Summer/Spring ’08 RTW line. I decided to put this post together to give you Urban Graduettes a more cost-effective way to show your appreciation for MMM.

No, these are not the same designs but they are ridiculously close. The cheaper alternative to the right is the “Summoning The Storm” tee by Liquid Blue.

Ripped jeans by Yodamnself.

And finally, the booties…Black leather ‘Soho’ collar sandals by Ash.

Street Style = Runway Edge

with 3 comments

saggy-pants-illustration-vl-vertical

Maybe it’s just me but street style has really been influencing menswear lately. Sagging pants has always been a part of street culture, then it was adopted by pop culture, and then the runway. BUT UHHH states are trying to pass legislation against sagging pants but it’s ok if the likes of Zac Effron do it. While it may not be “sagging” in the strictest sense CALVIN KLEIN is definitely being edgy by showing a lil’ underwear…and I aint talking about his ads from the early 90s.

I know some of my Urban Grads know about this one…the ” ‘wife beater’ tucked into boxers” look. Or according to creative director Italo Zucchelli “dress shirt tucked into boxer briefs” look. How’s that for Casual Friday. LOL. Get ’em Mr. Zucchelli.
