One of the best ways for women to add character to any outfit during the Fall/Winter season is to take FULL advantage of unique accessories. Sure, everyone is gonna have a scarf or a bracelet here and there, but how many ladies will have truly eye-catching pieces? ….riiiiiight…not many.

Insert B-Side by Ken & Dana. Their latest accessories collection features a variety of exotic, vibrant pieces. B-Side recreates the modern accessory by using geometrical shapes and mixing them with fluid, yet textured staples like silk scarves and beaded neckwear. The dopest thing about these accessories is that they actually have VOLUME! Chunky accessories are GREAT complements to fall/winter wears. Kudos to B-Side for being bold in the fall, and kudos to the Graduettes with enough moxie to pull of these accessories.

Greek 2 Chic: Gray’s Anatomy

What’s good, we are in, what I like to call, “Homecoming Season”. It just so happens to coincide with the Fall. Shouts to the AUC, and Howard (heard yall homecoming was live — but it don’t have sh*t on Morehouse’s). I digress, FALL fashion and HOMECOMING fashion rarely meet. They are literally, Black and White. Well, UTØ is about to introduce to you, the gray area. In other words, shades of gray are always Fall favorites, but we’ll show you some pieces you can incorporate into your homecoming swag:

Get Familiar: Vegan Fashion…Peacoats

leave a comment »

URBAN GRADUETTES, this post is for yall this Fall season. I know that you ladies love to see a man in a nice fitting peacoat; it gives him that distinguished, metropolitan look. Yet, it still allows him to be playful with his choice of jeans and shoes. But it seems that women’s peacoats are getting more attention this Fall. The average peacoat is over $100 dollars, but under that $200 dollar mark, but if you want something different from the navy, dark gray, or black variations then you might have to shell out a little bit more. So instead of going on and on, I’m just gonna let the JPEGs speak for themselves…

Darlita Trench Coat [blue], $88

Darlita Trench Coat, $88

Andrew Marc Black Wool Short Peacoat, $219

Banana Republic Petite Wool-blend Peacoat, $198

*This brown is little more refined, but this peacoat also comes in “squaw berry”*

LAmixx Women's Pinstripe Peacoat, $78

Marc by Marc Jacobs Peacoat, $398

Marc by Marc Jacobs Peacoat, $398

*Updated peacoat design sans the double-breast*

J.Crew Classic Peacoat

J.Crew Classic Peacoat, $225

*This peacoat comes in an assortment of colors…check out the website*

Calvin Klein Peacoat, $199.99

Calvin Klein Peacoat, $199.99

[ALSO, check out Uniqlo and GAP for their take on the woman’s peacoat.]

The smARTORIALIST: Summer Nights

leave a comment »

I know with the increase of global warming the earth isn’t getting any cooler, but when the sun goes down there is still some relief.  So here is my suggestion for the Urban Graduate on those cool summer nights…try a light sweater; a light sweater that is both breathable and colorful.  The colors express the season and allow you to stand out at night.

This is the lightweight silk/cashmere blend v-neck sweater from Banana Republic.  Purple is my favorite color because it is the color of royalty.  Plus a purple top goes well with dark jeans or some light chinos.

Banana Republic also offers the cotton/cashmere tipped crewneck sweater.  These come in more richer colors that than the v-necks.  Good fashion is subtle that is why these sweaters have color-tipped sleeves for an innovative look that makes these different from traditional crewneck sweaters.  You can rock these sweaters with some neutral-colored kicks, some Jack Purcell’s, Sperry’s, or some driving moccasins.  So when you want to look FLY AFTER FIVE, grab something lightweight and knit.
